Trust & Safety

How We Keep Things Safe

Here's what we do to protect your privacy and make sure connections on Nomed are legitimate.

How We Protect You

We don't just connect people and hope for the best. Here's how we keep the platform trustworthy.

Identity Verification

Everyone on Nomed verifies their identity before they can use the platform.

  • Email verification required for all accounts
  • Property owners verify ownership or management rights
  • Medical professionals can optionally verify credentials
  • Accounts are manually reviewed by our team

Private Requests

Your housing requests aren't publicly searchable or indexed by search engines.

  • Requests visible only to verified property owners
  • Location-based access (owners only see nearby requests)
  • No public profiles or searchable listings
  • Your housing needs stay private

Manual Moderation

Our team reviews every request and listing to keep quality high.

  • All new requests reviewed within 24 hours
  • Offers checked for accuracy and legitimacy
  • Suspicious activity flagged and investigated
  • Direct support for any concerns

In-Platform Messaging

Initial conversations happen through Nomed so there's a record and you stay in control.

  • Messaging built into the platform
  • Communication history preserved
  • Report inappropriate messages instantly
  • Exchange contact info only when ready
Important Limitations

What Nomed Does NOT Handle

Nomed connects you with the right people, but these parts happen directly between you and the other party.

Payments

Nomed does not process payments, deposits, or purchase transactions. All financial transactions happen directly between parties.

Our recommendation: Use secure payment methods with buyer protection. Never wire money or pay in cash before seeing the property.

Lease Agreements

Nomed does not provide or facilitate lease or purchase agreements. Parties create their own agreements.

Our recommendation: Use a written agreement for every transaction. Consider having a lawyer review agreements for larger commitments.

Background Checks

Nomed does not conduct credit checks, criminal background checks, or employment verification.

Our recommendation: Property owners should conduct their own screening. Tenants should be prepared to provide references.

Security Best Practices

Follow these guidelines to protect yourself when using Nomed.

For Medical Professionals

  • Never send money before viewing the property (virtual or in-person)
  • Verify the property exists using online maps and reviews
  • Ask for a video tour if you cannot visit in person
  • Use a written agreement for every transaction
  • Trust your instincts - if something feels off, it probably is
  • Report suspicious offers to our support team

For Property Owners

  • Verify tenant identity and employment before signing an agreement
  • Conduct your own background and credit checks
  • Use secure payment methods for deposits and payments
  • Document the property condition before move-in
  • Have clear cancellation and refund policies
  • Report suspicious requests to our support team

Red Flags to Watch For

If you encounter any of these, proceed with caution and report to our team.

  • Requests for wire transfers or cryptocurrency
  • Pressure to make quick decisions
  • Prices significantly below market rate
  • Refusal to show the property
  • Requests for excessive personal information
  • Poor communication or evasive answers
  • No written agreement offered
  • Requests to communicate off-platform

Real People Reviewing Every Listing

Our team manually reviews every request and listing. That means quality stays high and bad actors get caught early.

As we scale, we'll add more automated checks, but we'll always keep a human in the loop for safety.
